Came here for lunch just before noon and we had to wait in line but there weren’t many people ahead of us.
However, once we started waiting for our food, the line grew and soon afterward was out the door and exceeded 15 people.
I decided to get the pork spring roll as well as the BBQ duck sandwich from their feature menu.
I liked the spring roll. It was small but was flavourful and wasn’t lacking in pork. It came with a side of garlic aioli which was a good combination. The spring roll was already quite seasoned; in fact it was a bit too salty, so the more traditional dip probably wouldn’t have been a good choice.
This is in limited quantity and you can’t go halsies. I’m not sure why because they cut my sandwich in half anyway… The bread was toasted about the right amount but something about it made me think the bread wasn’t that fresh. Disappointingly, the duck wasn’t that juicy as advertised, and the hoisin sauce was applied very inconsistently and I only got it in a few bites.
The jalapenos were a terrible choice because I also got some bites where it was too spicy and I couldn’t taste anything else.
It didn’t seem like there was a lot of duck. Most of the time I could just taste bread or the pickled veggies.
Overall, the idea behind the sandwich was good but with subpar duck and its flavour being masked by other things, it was a bit disappointing.
Overall, I thought the food was fine though and I am interested in trying their other sandwiches.
Value: 4/5 based on the menu in general
