Ebi-ten

Came here for a late weekday lunch. It was about 1 pm and it was still quite full but we managed to get a table pretty quickly as people started leaving.

I had seen this place a bunch of times but didn’t know it was Japanese-run. My friend suggested we go since it was cheap.

Tempura don (tendon) ($8.95)

Our food took only a couple of minutes to come out. I was quite impressed with the rice bowl. There was no dipping sauce for the tempura, it seems like they just pour the sauce on for you. Perhaps as a result of that, the outside of the tempura wasn’t that crispy, which was a bit disappointing.

However, there was a lot of tempura and I was definitely satisfied with the amount. The prawns were quite crunchy as well which meant they were likely fairly fresh.

I liked the rice. This seems of little significance but so many rice bowl places have crappy rice that is either mushy, underseasoned, or inconsistent. The rice here was fluffy and consistent and they put some kind of sauce into it making it well seasoned.

Overall, this place is great for a quick and cheap meal and I was satisfied with the quality given the price.

Food: 3.8/5
Value: 4.2/5
Overall: 4/5
Would return: yes
